8th July 2019
Dear Rotarians
As your President for 2019 -20, I look forward to the year ahead to lead you with my vision and your assistance to guide our club and its members. Over the last 12 months I have been listening to you and I have also listened with my thoughts to what we all should feel is best for our club to go forward. There will always be room for improvement and I will always welcome your input, and in achieving an enthusiastic result for this year. I have discussed with our Board the following initiatives for our clubs direction in my year.
  • Committees are introduced and headed by a Board Director, supported by a seasoned member/s. They can be held at people’s homes, otherwise committee nights in club rooms have been programmed and to leave via side door. Communications via emails also recommended in the process.
  • Committee Director is to provide a monthly report.
  • A Committee introduced to oversee Membership with initiatives and follow up referrals.
  • Introduce into Vocational Committee a Quality of Service award towards a Youth   Employment of the community.
  • Introduce Corporate Businesses towards Membership allowing management and staff to rotate in attending our meetings.
  • Invite Honorary and Friends of Rotary to take an active role in committees.
  • More joint meetings and participation with Gawler Light (at least 6 meetings).
  • Involve Rotary in our community to Aboriginal people and invite local indigenous groups and Elders. Also the most vulnerable e.g. youth suicide.
  • Members to advise at our meetings of visits to other Rotary Clubs (not makeups)
  • Hours of service to be only applied to Rotary service. Recorded via monthly committee meetings and handed to attendance team for recording.
  • Head Table to be President, Sergeant, Guest, Chairman. We need to be visible to all Rotarians, guests and visitors. Chairman opens meeting with mention of respect to Kaurna people as the traditional custodians of our land, and with toast to the Queen and Australia by a member.
  • Every meeting chaired by a chairman and concluded by the President with RI Club reminders, thankyous and closing the meeting with the 4 Way Test.
  • Refresh our regular events with new additions or change to avoid it becoming too stale.
  • Board Minutes available to club members by request at any time.
  • President to make suitable donation to a worthy and suitable community cause.
  • A few Partners and Friends Dinners, Movies, Social or Dance Nights included in the program.

In Serving you as Your President Steve Barilla 2019 - 20
