Pres Kathy opened the meeting and welcomed members and guest Danielle Camporeale from District. Also, a special welcome back to Lance hatcher this week. She then explained that tonight we were going to trial sitting together with our committee and having meetings during the evening then moving to Board at 8pm. Kathy then invited Danielle to come forward and speak to the members.
Danielle said she had the pleasure of presenting the club with a $500 gift voucher to be used in whatever way they wished. It is not tied to any project.
Danielle explained that this was the prize in a ‘membership raffle’ for having all our info up to date on Club Runner. There were only 19/ 57 clubs who were eligible. Kathy called on Michael Jacobs to accept the gift voucher on behalf of the club.

Kathy then called for members and director spots.
Steve Barilla thanked Leanne, Harrison, Ian Nys, Anthony and Grace for their help erecting shelters for the Gawler Light Picnic on Sunday.

Colin Bazeley has applied for a $3000 grant to purchase a portable PA system. The grant is not awarded until June 2023, so fingers crossed. The original thought was to use the grant to support the Two Wells breakfast club, but this did not meet the guidelines. Well done to Colin for exploring this and putting the application together.

Due to Barry’s absence Pres Kathy took over the sergeant’s session spot but did not include jokes as she said they would not be appropriate! Instead, she would ask members to share things from their week.
Anniversaries this week- no membership anniversaries but Kathy and her husband Peter celebrated 31years of marriage-congratulations.
Mark Forgie- told us his Aunt Ruth who is 101 and still lives at home has been in hospital but is now once again home.
Lance Hatcher- gave us his account of what happened in his accident and the follow up treatment. He was considered incredibly lucky he didn’t break any bones. Lance said after getting to 60 years without missing a weekly Rotary
Meeting he was not going to let that (and COVID) stop him, so he has been attending eclub meetings and made a couple of visits to Gawler Light.
Anthony Barilla gave a humorous follow up to Steve’s broken phone saga that was mentioned last week.
This week’s wheel winners were: John Lyons-Chocolates; Mike Williams *(asked for a redraw since he won it last week) Colin Bazeley -chocolates; Kim Potger redonated his prize of a travel mug which was won by Dave Griffiths.

President Kathy then gave her wrap up before closing the meeting.
  • Madison Williams leaves on the Youth Team Sailing Challenge on Sunday morning.
  • Next week there is no meeting due to long weekend and the following week the meeting is WEDNESDAY 12th at Mawson lakes for the Area 6 meeting.
  • The next meeting at Nixon’s is the 17th of October and is Funny Hat night for mental health so start preparing your hats and bring your change to donate. Guest speaker for the evening is Barry Stewart talking all things mould.
Kathy then officially closed Meeting 3131 so Committees could continue their meetings until 8pm then Board members would meet.
