Anthony then invited members with information to come forward.
PP John Lyons attended a Christmas Parade meeting the day before.  He will be looking for volunteers to walk in the parade next to the truck (float). Will need numbers by 2nd  September Also we will be running a food stall. Next meeting. The parade will be held 30th November.
PP Kathy Heinrich Kathy, Steve and Grace attended the Barossa Rotary club changeover dinner. The Barossa clubs are amalgamating, and Steve Ahrens is the new president.
Pres Anthony   attended Gawler Light Changeover afternoon tea. Looking forward to continuing partnership with them and plan on having some mixed meetings to help out both clubs with guest speakers. Also wants to continue to look at combining the 2 clubs, This will be a discussion with members later.
Almoner PP Mike Williams -Ruth Forgie is in hospital but expected to return home soon. Ruth is the wife of Past President Frank Forgie and Aunt of Mark, she is 103 years old and remarkably, lives at home still. Please keep her in your thoughts.
After Dinner PP Barry Stewart presented his Bunyip roundup. Thanks to the Bunyip for great coverage of the Changeover including a front-page picture. Barry also told us about his recent cataract surgery and spoke very highly of the treatment he received at Central Districts Hospital.
Wheel winners this week were Barry, Grace and Mike W.
President Anthony addressed his first meeting as President, firstly to acknowledge members Ian Nys and Bob Ahola who both passed away in the previous 12 months for their commitment and service to Rotary.
He also thanked Beth and Margaret for their term on the board and Brian Burt and Colin Bazeley for the huge commitment over the years, both will be missed in the club.
Shawn Lock has announced that due to personal reasons he will no longer be able to commit to President Elect but Kyle Smith has agreed to accept that position.
Anthony then gave a short report of his plans for the coming year. Some of the things include:
  • Focusing on the number of projects -it is better to do several things well rather than trying to do too much.
  • Continue to support things we already do successfully e.g. Village Fair and Christmas parade and also working with other clubs eg Air Cadets, Apex, Zonta ,other Rotary Clubs in local area as well as the ones in Group 7 we are part of due to Regionalisation.
  • Commit to continuing/ finishing projects we are working on -Salvation Army Cool room, AED installations, -these are ready to go 1 will go at Scammels and 1 at Trinity in Evanston. Both will be on the outside of buildings so they can be accessed when needed.
  • Anthony will look at Committee’s to make them more equitable, he will let everyone know soon which committee they have been allocated.
  • A reminder that to cover costs of the square members will be charged .50c per transaction from next week. Cash will not attract the extra cost.
Anthony then asked for questions /comments from members.
  • PP John wanted to make sure we were committed to Salvation Army partnership and suggested we pursue having dinner there one evening as a fundraiser for them.
  • Shawn Lock- asked if we can once again look at having business breakfasts.
  • PP Mike asked if there was a register locating the AEDs in Gawler. Could we lobby Council to get one out. There are several in the town, but people need to know where they are.
