From the president
This week marked the first meetings for our new committees. While numbers were a little lower than usual—including our directors, we still had some fantastic, productive discussions. It was great to see everyone collaborating and sharing fresh ideas to build on what’s already working. For those committees with just a person or two, there was plenty of support from each other, which really highlights what Rotary is all about—working together towards our common goals, whether that’s at the global level or right here in our club. Gawler Members never fail to show that spirit!
August is Membership and Club Development Month, so I’d like to acknowledge Past President and our Sergeant at Arms, Barry Stewart, for his commitment to growing our club. Thanks to Barry’s efforts, we have two new members ready for induction, and our guest speaker Oprea, from a couple of weeks ago, also introduced by Barry, will be joining us again on Monday night as a guest and is interested in becoming a member. Well done, Barry, for being so proactive!
Rotary clubs around the world are getting behind the slogan “Everyone Bring One,” and we’re no exception. We have some fantastic speakers and plenty of volunteering opportunities coming up—a perfect opportunity to give people a tiny taste of what we do so start the discussion with people you know. Another way you can help is by supporting the club in the current People First Lottery. Below you will find the flyer with our unique QR code. Please follow this link to buy tickets remembering that every $2 ticket you buy and nominate the Rotary Club of Gawler we receive the full $2. There are some great prizes so jump online and grab some while you are thinking about it! (tickets are only available online and with a debit card).
After reminding members that there will be no meeting on Monday 17th August because we are meeting on the Tuesday 18th at Cafe Nova as a joint meeting with Gawler Light. To officially close the Meeting Pres Angela asked members to join in the Four Way Test and invited committees to continue their discussions until 8pm if they wished.
Yours in Rotary Angela Moore
