Rotary Club of Gawler April 2026 report

April was another fairly quiet month for fundraising and service activities, but members still kept busy supporting the Air Cadets at the Gawler ANZAC Eve Vigil by providing a BBQ dinner. Members also attended the Dawn Service, where President Kyle accompanied his children, Layla and Harry, as they proudly placed a wreath on behalf of the club. Behind the scenes, others were hard at work organising the shed and sorting through equipment to ensure everything is safe, fit for purpose, and well organised.

Bath and Alan travelled to Horsham to attend the combined District Summit and provided a report back to the club on their return.

Guest speaker Terry Krieg gave an insightful presentation on the Australian power industry and explored some of the reasons why electricity prices remain so high.

Unfortunately, our longest-standing member, Lance Hatcher, suffered a fall that resulted in a broken hip. After a stay in hospital, Lance was moved to a nursing home for rehabilitation and will now remain there, where he will soon be joined by Glenice. Members are encouraged to give Lance a call and say hello. Lance holds the remarkable record of 100% attendance since joining the club — an achievement that will be incredibly hard to beat.

PE Angela has already begun preparing for her year as President, attending a full day of training via Zoom before completing two days of face-to-face training at the end of the month.

Final preparations are now underway for the Changeover meeting, so please keep an eye on your inboxes for invitations.

President Kyle also attended an information session on the updated district distribution arrangements, with a report to follow in the coming weeks.
