Meeting Report Monday 9th September 2019 Meeting 3010
There were no guests present this week but we had some feedback from some guests at out Kickstart for Kids meeting. Brian Burt received these emails.

“Lyn and I had a great time at your meeting last night. Thank you.” DG Elect for the new District 9510 David Jones and his wife Lyn
“We loved our experience and it was truly fantastic to see such a wonderful community.” From Shenae the regional head of the Kickstart program in the local region.

PP Marie-louise presented an update on the End Polio campaign. The figures show a disappointing trend with increased case this year in some areas. Pakistan has shown a significant increase in cases. Papua New Guinea has had no further cases reported following an outbreak of vaccine induced cases last year. Nigeria has enjoyed a period of no new cases and is on the way to gaining freedom status. This information is available for all to access through the Rotary web pages.

Africa on brink of polio eradication

Nigeria and the whole continent of Africa is on the cusp of being polio free, Dr. Hamid Jafari told audience members at the Rotary Convention on 8 June in São Paulo, Brazil.

The Rotary .org website if full of similar stories. Go find them and keep the push going.

Remember World Polio Day is October 24th

Barry conducted his usual light hearted segment aimed at the members present. He only asks that you laugh at his humour and contribute to the collection – this week collections were for End Polio eradication.

President Steve reminded members of several matters already advertised to members via the email stream.

Following the meeting a confidential discussion was held with members present. No mention of the topic can be discussed in this forum but any member wishing to come up to speed on the matter can contact any member of the board for details.

Maidenhead Bridge Rotary
Membership Director Brian has provided the following material from a friend.

When I was last talking to my mate Al in England, he mentioned the innovative Maidenhead Bridge Rotary Club.

Maidenhead Bridge Rotary (https://www.maidenheadbridgerotary.org.uk/)  was formed in 2012, aiming to provide professionals aged 30+ with an opportunity to get involved in local and international community projects and meet like-minded people in the local area.  Hands-on volunteering, fundraising, challenge events, sharing our professional skills to help local charities develop – these are just some of the activities we get involved in – as well as having fun while we’re doing it!
We know most people are busy so we meet over coffee on 1st and 3rd Sunday each month at 10.30 a.m. to plan projects, hear from inspiring speakers and have a catch up with friends. Some of our members who have young children bring them along too, so no need to worry about childcare.
The Youtube video is well worth watching  https://youtu.be/-YR9YQTUaW4

The Rotary world is changing and many innovative ideas are emerging from all parts of the globe.

Why could Rotary Gawler not find a way to involve more members of our community to join us in our dedication to make a difference?
