Pres John
- Welcome back everyone, special welcome to PP Dave Griffiths.
- Thanks to Chris and Ros Edmunds for their fabulous donations to assist in upcoming fundraising events.
- Reminder next week is the annual social evening at Gawler Bowling club. Numbers had to be in by today so hopefully we will have most members and guests there. Gawler Light have been invited to join us for a combined evening.

- Organisation for the 70th Anniversary dinner are well under way. The Vine Inn at Nuriootpa has been booked. The committee would like as many past presidents as possible and their spouses to attend and are contacting them. If you know anyone else you think should receive an invitation please see Beth and Margaret. Beth Margaret and Brian visited the club and sampled the menu -it was delicious! They have also secured accommodation at the Vine in at a reduced rate for people who do not wish to drive home. Mention you are attending the dinner when booking.
- The next Coffee Club date is the 31st of January at 10:30. As the mornings have not been well attended the get togethers may mot continue this year. There was a short discussion on the day not been suitable because of so many other things happening on a Wednesday.
PP Steve Barilla
- At the end of last year, we assisted the Two Wells Primary school with their end of year concert. The 5 volunteers were initially run off their feet but after someone (no names) broke the fairy floss machine it gave us a reprieve. We made a small profit and donated fresh bread and the remainder of the sausages to the school. Angela said kids were thrilled with sausages in bread for breakfast the next day as a treat.
- Steve brought everyone’s attention to some upcoming events and asked if we as a club were able to support them.
The 4X4 show March 22nd / 23rd -Yes.
City to Bay -unable to commit.
Gawler Australia Day Breakfast- Yes
PP Brian Burt
- A brief outline of the first couple of Rotary meetings before asking fellow Rotarians to please submit any photos, special memories, and memorabilia to him for inclusion in a history book to be ready for the Anniversary Dinner. A few hard copies will be published as a glossy book, but it was agreed that most will be available on a USB for a small cost.
After dinner Margaret welcomed Barry to present his sergeants session.
The wheel spin winners of Chocolates were Pres John and Kyle Smith, and Bob Hinderwell won the Money.
Before presenting his funnies for the evening Barry shared the Mic asking for volunteers to let us know anything special that happened over the holidays.
- PP Mark Smeaton -His daughter got engaged at Christmas and will be getting married in November.
- Pres John spent time with his 98-year-old Mum
Also spent time with Major Darren from the Salvation Army and learned firsthand how they support the people in need at Christmas. They fed 800 people Christmas Dinner. John was moved to witness how many people we have in our community and would like the club to become involved in supporting them. PP Mark S agreed there is a need and said we have been supporting them with the involvement in the Hope Cup which raised over $30k in 2023.
- PP Mike Williams bought Deb Waders for Christmas was very impressed with the service he received while ordering/ purchasing them.
- PP Dave Griffiths one of his sons who lives in Sydney has bought a home and is moving back here to live.
- PP Barry went to beautiful Robe for a holiday.
- PP Kathy Heinrich daughter has bought a house in Willaston and has her wedding booked.
- PP Colin Bazeley the house is sold and they will be moving into Gawler Caravan Park for a couple of months before moving to Balmoral in Victoria to live.
- Ian Sanders- bought his wife the biggest birthday present -they went on a cruise to New Zealand.
- PP Alan Harris- became a great Grandfather for the second time. The baby was a little girl.
Sergeant Barry then presented his Facebook funnies. During the slideshow Barry showed a picture of a paining that had been stolen from the Lyall McEwen hospital. Mark Forgie explained that the painting somehow ended up at the Elizabeth funeral parlour carpark. The police were contacted and when they came to recover it, they had to send for back up because it would not fit in their car.
At the conclusion of Barry’s session Margaret asked Pres John to close the meeting.
John thanked members and guests for coming and reminded everyone to meet at the Bowling club next week then closed with the Four Way test.
