Meeting Report Monday 26th August 2019 Meeting 3008
The Meeting was opened by Chairperson for the night PP Dave Griffiths who welcomed members, partners and Guests, Carol Stewart, Andrew Eastick, Harrison Clinch and also acknowledged Honorary Member John Ward. Fines for this week will go to Quality of Life Foundation.
 
Rotary Spots
PP Leanne Clinch acknowledged an email received from PP Dave Griffiths relating to his attendance at a Gawler Light Meeting to discuss possible joint Youth Projects with Youth Director David Weatherley.  More details and discussion later. Dave also reported on his attendance at a Gawler Youth Workers meeting on 20th August. Local MP Tony Piccolo spoke about a Youth Advisory Panel that is being established with the first meeting to be held on 18th September and will involve 2 representatives from each local school. Tony also spoke about establishing Youth Achievement Awards (which is on our Youth Committee agenda for the next Meeting).
 
PP Kim Potger advised the club that the Rotary Club of Clare were again having their wine sales fundraiser. Members were informed if they didn’t want to buy a dozen bottles then Kim had offered for members to purchase from him as he was doing the ordering.
 
PP Patsy Johnson advised members she had obtained some recycling brochures from the Resource Centre in the Council Office. She also informed members she was looking at a local stamp dealer where the stamp profits may be more profitable.
 
PP Ron Lloyd thanked all members who worked during the weekend with show parking and advised of the next event on 22 September which was the Car Club Swap Meet.
 
PP Mike Williams welcomed PP Bruce Eastick and advised PP Kevin Clarke was now out of hospital, surgery had gone well but he was still experiencing some ongoing issues.  Mike also reminded members Jan Meldrum was still on the mend after his mishap.
 
PP Wayne Murphy advised members that some meetings duties would be combined with chair duties and toast for one person and fellowship and plaques part of another duty.        
 
President Steve advised that Grace was planning to have a ladies dinner and requested all wives to forward their email addresses.
 
PP Brian Burt let members know that Milton Vadoulis was home after 5 weeks in hospital and he thanked members for their good wishes.
 
Wheel winners for the night were PP Patsy Johnson and PP Ron Sanders
 
GUEST SPEAKERS PP LANCE HATCHER AND PP BRIAN BURT spoke to the club regarding changes to the Club By-Laws
 
Motion 1
That the Rotary Club of Gawler Inc adds Corporate Membership and Family Membership to the types of membership offered - moved by PP Brian Burt and seconded by PP Barry Stewart which was carried.
 
Motion 2
The roles of “Friends of Rotary” is to be provide a facility that connects people to the Rotary Club of Gawler, enabling them to attend meetings and events and take park in Rotary activities without the obligations of attendance and subscriptions. -  moved by PP Brian Burt and seconded by PP Patsy Johnson and this was carried.
 
DETAILS OF POSSIBLE INCLUSION AND EXAMPLES WILL BE PROVIDED TO MEMBERS BY EMAILS
 
PP Mike Williams moved that the previous Sub-Committee of PP Lance Hatcher, PP Dave Griffiths and PP Brian Burt commence work on the amendments and this was seconded by Bob Hinderwell.
 
Further commentary will be provided to members via emails.
 
Members were provided with details regarding the next vocational visit to Coopers on 14th October. The date has been set however details of the meal and transport were yet to be confirmed. Estimated cost for members if a bus is hired is approximately $55 per head. RSVP for the night is September 20 with the invitation open for guests, family and friends
 
PP Kim Potger presented the breakdown of membership fees to the club.  In summary fees will be increasing by $40 from 2018/19 amount.
 
President Steve closed the Meeting.
