PP Steve officially opened meeting 3134 and welcomed members and guests before calling for members and director spots.
Kim Potger received information re a wine fundraiser to benefit Rotary Health. Orders are due by 7th November and delivery is the end of November.  Kim is happy to coordinate the orders and delivery. If you do not need to order a dozen that’s ok because he will collate the orders and top up if he needs to. The wine is reasonably priced between $15-20 a bottle and lots of variety available. The order form is being circulated tonight.
A reminder that the fines session was designed to go toward Rotary Projects. Over recent times Chairperson has nominated other places to donate to. This has resulted in Kim being inundated with repeat requests for more funds. Please familiarise yourself with the approved projects if you are chair so they can be directed to the correct place.
PP Steve Bailla Thanks everyone who assisted by putting the corflute signs up around the area. We have lots of different activities locked in for the fair although the overall we are down on stall holders. We will need all hands on deck on the Saturday and will be jobs for everyone’s ability
PP Colin Bazeley added Volunteers are needed from 5:30am Saturday to set up then throughout the day to assist. This year is the first year we will be selling food so there will be opportunities to help with that. Need 5 people to work on PA through the day. Maybe take 1 hour shifts each. Mike Williams and Klaus will install the PA system.
Gawler Light are organising the Art Show.
Michael Jacob asked members to look out for the email re the DIK [Donations in Kind] working bee. Please RSVP to the contact on the flyer.
Reminder as well to RSVP to the CFS Air Op team’s sponsor open day. Please RSVP direct.

Chairperson PP Steve invited guests to enjoy their meal and some fellowship.

Sergeant Barry conducted the wheel spin -winners were Deb Williams and Leanne Clinch -both receiving Chocolates. He then led everyone in wishing PP Dr Bruce Eastick’s happy 95th birthday for tomorrow and Ian Sanders happy Birthday for the 28th, before he entertained everyone with his usual Facebook funnies and Bunyip report.

Chairperson and Proud Dad Steve Barilla then introduced son and fellow Rotarian Anthony to talk about his life so far. In his introduction Steve said Anthony had always been an extremely focused person and knew what he wanted from an early age. He said both Grace and Steve were proud of all their children but especially proud of Anthony’s drive and achievements.
Anthony Barilla was born at the Lyall Mc Ewin hospital on October 1st 1991.  He started at Angle Vale Kindy but Grace thought he was being held back playing in the sandpit all day, so he moved to the Montessori Kindy and thrived. He went on to Trinity College South Campus where he completed his education to year 12. Anthony said he helped dad on his farm from a very young age and there was never a dull moment. Besides continuing the farm right through he also worked at Target during years 10-12 as well as Ruddell and Ruddell law firm in Year 12. After year 12 he went on to study Bachelor of law and international Relations and McGill and Adelaide Uni. Anthony went on a six-month study tour to Italy and while he was there, he was able to spend time with both families.
In 2013 Anthony met his now wife Rosene who was studying to be a radiographer. Both graduated and worked successfully in their chosen profession. In 2017 they bought a house in Findon-everything Anthony wanted -a place to renovate with big yard to house his love of motorcars and the opposite of what Rosene wanted -ready to move in modern! However, with his ‘team of Italians’ he worked hard and had the house ready in 9 months to move in. Anthony spectacularly proposed to Rosene on a visit to Fiji. They then bought another house to renovate and used his team of Italians to get it ready to tenant. In 2021 Anthony was approached by Ruddell and Ruddell to move to join them in their practice in Gawler. Anthony also moved from the Rotary Club of Adelaide to join Gawler club at this time. Rosene and Anthony were supposed to be married in 2020 but due to Covid the wedding was postponed to 2021. They held a fabulous reception at the Adelaide Townhall.
Anthony bought another house in Gawler East and poor Rosene only found out when he said he was bringing papers home to sign -lucky for him she is very understanding! She is however used to Anthony’s sudden purchases which often involved cars.
Anthony’s move to Gawler for work enabled him to pursue extra experiences like the Variety Bash last year. They have however remained living in Findon with their dog, who has his own Instagram account and has been used in several promotions, The families get together each year to carry on traditions such as sausage making which requires Anthony to take a week off work and raises eyebrows from neighbours when they see whole pigs being carried into the house.

Anthony wrapped up his talk with some wonderful photos of his wedding, his dog and the beautiful setting for his proposal in Fiji and his cars.

After calling for questions Steve thanked Anthony for his talk and reiterated how proud he is before presenting him with his certificate of appreciation indicating a donation has been made to vaccinate 45 children against Polio.

Steve invited Pres Kathy to give her closing remarks.
A reminder about the CFS event on the 27th; She asked members to start thinking about the AGM to be held on the 28th November. We will have a spot to fill on the board and also need a President Elect.
Next week will be committees and Board meeting. Village fair on the 5th November. !9th December is the Christmas dinner upstairs at Nixon’s and the 16th January has been booked in for Lawn Bowls.

Rotarians were then asked to be upstanding to recite the Four Way Test before closing meeting 3134.

A small delegation from the Rotary Club of Gawler visited the Bunyip offices this week to meet the new editor. PP Steve Barilla, Beth Hudman, PP Colin Bazeley and Michael Jacob are pictured but they were joined by long time Bunyip liason Brian Burt, who of course was behind the camera. Here they are with the new street signs advertising the Village Fair.
Come on everybody. Lets have some fun!
