Dear Rotarians
Just want to let you all know that the District Governor Jeff Neale and his wife Jenny were very impressed with our Club and all the great work we are doing in the Community.
They said our Club has a strong culture and it was great to see what we are doing with new memberships and that we are club that continues to grow.
An update on Bob Ahrens that he is doing really well and now using a walking frame and has been doing a few visit to Ahrens office to see all the staff.
If you would like to arrange a visit to Southern Cross just give them a call and make an appointment as I am sure he would like to see you all.

Meeting 8th November
Meeting 3093 was opened by Chairperson Angela Moore. Rotary Toast given by Leanne Clinch and grace by mark Smeaton.
Dave Griffiths led the members and guests in the Ode to Rememberance followed by 1 minutes silence.Angela welcomed members and guests Anthea Johns and speaker Montana Doudle. Apologies were received from Bob Ahrens, Colin Bazely and Daniel Barrett.
Directors were invited to address meeting for Rotary Spots.
Michael Jacobs reminded members that the AGM is coming up quickly and urged members to nominate for positions. Hard copy forms were on the table and electronic versions were sent to everyone this week.
Steve Barilla -reminded everyone about the movie night and reported that there are still tickets available. He also reminded everyone about dressing up and the option to have dinner at Café Nova beforehand. Donations for the raffle would be accepted on the night.
Leanne thanked everyone for the support given to Harrison and the Gawler East primary school fundraiser. More than $16000.00 was raised school wide and Harrison smashed his goal of $500 by raising over $600.00; After dinner and some fellowship Barry entertained everyone during the sergeant’s session with fines going to Rotary Youth.
President Mark gave an update on Bob Ahrens and said he is doing really well and has been moved back to Southern Cross for rehab and open to visitors; just ring ahead.
Angela then introduced Guest speaker Montana Doudle to give the club an update of her studies in Physiotherapy. Montana is one of the recipients of the SA Health, Aboriginal Health scholarship, and co-sponsored by Gawler Rotary and SA Health. Montana was pleased to let us know that as of last week she has completed her formal studies and is now waiting for registration as a physiotherapist and her graduation early next year. She thanked the club for the ongoing support and said that this year she has used the scholarship to fund extra short courses such as dry needling where previously she has used the money to reduce her HECS debt. After completing placements in private practice Montana said she believes this will be her chosen path. She aims to stay in Adelaide for an extra 12 months to take advantage of the support she can access more readily in the city before moving back to Port Lincoln. She has already received some job offers from clinics in Port Lincoln when she returns home. Her long term goal is to open her own private practice in the country Montana will graduate with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Hons).
Montana was presented with a certificate of appreciation by Angela.
President Mark then gave his closing address to the meeting and once again thanked members for their attendance and urged them to consider nominating for positions on the board, before officially closing meeting 3093 and thanking everyone for their attendance.
