Welcome to our monthly bulletin for September.

Welcome to September's wrap up

September saw the group stretched with service/ fundraising opportunities throughout the whole month. These were well coordinated by Mike Williams and his team and the BBQ trailer came into its own. We cooked and served sausages for the SES open day, Xavier sports day, Gawler Eagles Junior presentation day and served our legendary hot dogs at the Gawler swap meet. The swap meet kept us on our toes trying to dodge mini downpours inside the tent! However, in true Rotary style everyone got on with having fun while doing a job.

A handful of Rotarians also attended a Gawler Light meeting to gain the traffic management qualifications.

Guest speakers were interesting and varied. The month started with Mark Carter speaking about a Cambodian Building project tour he is putting together

Angela Moore educated members on Auslan and the importance of being able to communicate with deaf and hard of hearing in the community. This was a hands on session where members got to practice fingerspelling as well as basic signs.

Lance Hatcher gave an informative talk on the Hatcher family migration to South Australia. Our final Guest speaker was Amanda North who was accompanied by her sister and Gawler Rotary club regular DR Sandra Marshall. Amanda gave a very informative talk on the recent history of Wintulichs. She brought along some very interesting artifacts to show as well as some great samples of the smallgoods for people to take away. Amanda also donated some lovely items for our wheelspin.

Next month, October, is another busy month as we prepare for the Village Fair.

There is only 1 guest speaker booked in for October because of Public holiday, Club assemble and Fair prep.

Monday 13th Andrew DeGras from the Rotary Club of Westlakes will speak to the club about the End Polio Campaign.

Keep an eye on our Facebook page for ongoing updates.

On a sad note for the club Julie Tekell has handed in her resignation from the Cub due to personal commitments. Julie has been a valuable member of the club over the years including a year as President as well as playing a huge part in our community. Members and directors wish Julie well and we will hopefully see Julie come back and visit when she can.

 HOT OFF THE PRESS!

Thank you to Mike and Deb Williams who took part in the Say No to Domestic Violence campaign march through Adelaide on Saturday. They were joined by grandson Zac.
